Long Siang Sustainable Development Project

The Long Siang Project

PicturePicture

Welcome

In the Long Siang area we are attempting to demonstrate the possibilities for developing an alternative and sustainable way of living as opposed to the local people becoming plantation workers (or rather wage slaves!).

We already have a gravity feed water supply, small scale hydroelectricity (200-500 watts!), compost toilets and are starting to grow crops.

Long Siang is a small Penan settlement on the Tutoh river. There are about 300 people based here.

There is a small longhouse built by Government contractors and a few huts built by Penan families.
