Project Aims

The problem for the Penan - destruction of their traditional way of life by the widespread logging of their forest homeland.

The plan to build a new community along the Tutoh river introducing new ideas and appropriate technology to the Penan community of Long Siang in order for them to develop a new lifestyle.

The philosophy to encourage the whole community to become involved in making the fundamental decisions needed.

The hope that other communities will, in time, learn from Long Siang and take the ideas onward.
